Synopsis: Machinal is an American-Expressionist play written by Sophie Treadwell in 1928.The plot involves an ordinary woman living in a harsh mechanized world, and culminates into her murdering her husband.
Concept: The scenic design revolves around psychological themes within the play and a turn-of-the-century factory environment as the central metaphor for an ordinary woman struggling to live in a harsh and mechanical society.
