Romeo & Juliet (Scenic Designer, 2017)
Director: Laura Rikard
Ring Theatre, Miami, FL
Concept: This fantasy version of Shakespeare’s most beloved tragedy is told through an ethereal setting punctuated by color and texture. As the tale progresses and passions elevate, the palette evolves from creams to soft pastels to intense hues and crimson through the use of light on a backing of feathers. Moments are emphasized by dark red rose petals that fall on the ground every time blood is spilled, and starry lights above during romantic interludes. The iconic layout with a central balcony references Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.
Process: This design was communicated through hand generated sketches, drafted plans with section and elevation views.
